Raw Chocolate!
We are proud to introduce an amazing new chocolate, handmade from raw, organic, fairtrade ingredients. Living Earth chocolates are also gluten free, and are made without sugar! You might expect a chocolate this healthy to taste a bit strange and unsatisfying to those who appreciate great chocolate, but in fact they taste fantastic. Organic Agave syrup is used instead of sugar, giving the rich dark chocolate just the right amount of sweetness to complement the rich bitterness of the cocoa. The chocolate is available as plain, with almond and bluecorn extract, or with goji berries and camu camu.
Healthy Chocolate?
The raw cacao used is never heated about 45 C, which means that the chocolate has up to 4 times as many antioxidants as conventional chocolate. Raw cocoa is a primary source of magnesium, a mineral that many people in the west are deficient in. Magnesium is important for maintaining a healthy heart, and it is essential for the absorption of minerals into the body. It is also important for the brain to operate with clarity and focus. We all know that chocolate makes us happy; this is partly due to the naturally present chemicals within cocoa such as serotonin, dopamine and anandamide. These neurotransmitters are associated with feelings of wellbeing and help alleviate depresion. These elements are much more potent in raw cocoa than processed chocolates, because the dairy products and refined sugars that are usually added to them make it difficult for the body to absorb them. Living Earth raw chocolate and raw cocoa is also certified organic and fair trade, so you can be sure the production and the processing of the cocoa crop has been grown sustainably without harmful chemicals, while supporting the community.
