Flu Fighting Ginger
The nasty flu thats going around is really taking its toll on Melbourne this winter, and many of us are battling with it, or trying to avoid getting it. One food that can offer some relief, is organic ginger, which has powerful healing qualities, and can also really help to boost our immune systems.
Read more about the healing qualities of ginger here, and incorporate some into your next meal! To make a flu fighting (or preventing) tea, take a few slices of fresh Organic Ginger and place in a large mug with a spoonful of active manuka honey. Add the juice of half a fresh organic lemon, and top up with water that has been boiled then cooled for a few minutes.
Other foods that are great for boosting our immune systems are broccoli, capsicums, kale, cauliflower, strawberries, kiwifruits, citrus fruits, brussel sprouts, cabbage, snow peas and parsley. Whilst the vitamin C content in foods is usually highest when the fruit or vegetable is raw, it is worth noting that raw foods require more energy for the body to digest them. A big bowl of hearty soup, with a good handful of chopped parsley on the top will probably do you more good when you're sick than a plateful of raw veges. Wrap up warm, stay in bed, and get well soon!
